Lbv Port
Late Bottled Vintage Port or LBV is a port that is originally wine destined for bottling as Vintage Port but due to lack of demand ending up staying in the barrel for longer than planned and was actually discovered accidentally. The wines are usually the product of a single vineyard and tend to be light bodied when compared to a vintage port.Generally aged either for 4 or 6 years and comes in two styles. The first style is fined and filtered before bottling and the other is not. The unfiltered LBV ports improve with bottle ageing .The fined and filtered version can be kept even if opened without having to decant the wine and can typically be drunk when released.
