Riesling

[Reese-LING] originating from Germany this is a white grape variety. It is viewed as a noble wine grape and are usually slightly sweet and balanced wines. Rarely blended with other varieties or aged in oak, this wine tends to age well for anywhere up to 10 or 20 years of age dependant on the wine makers skill. In South Africa for years the reputation of this wine was tarnished by the accidental confusion with a Rhine Riesling otherwise known as grey Riesling. The true Riesling vine is well suited to cold wine growing regions and is a moderately vigorous and productive vine. The wine has distinctly dominant floral and fruity aromas which include rose petals, apples, pears, peach and apricot
