Zinfandel

[ZIN-fahn-dell] is a robust varietal either produced as a red or white wine. The vines grow vigorously and prefer warmer climates that are not overly hot. The skins are thin and therefore prone to bunch rot. The wine is held in high regard for its ability to reflect the terrior and the winemakers skill and and style.Spicy, berry and peppery tones make this varietal an excellent alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon. It is medium to well bodied and ages well. Interestingly the white wine is also produced from the red grapes but the skins are removed resulting in a rose/pink coloured wine.
